Special Education Services

The Moreland School District is committed to providing a Free Appropriate Public Education for eligible preschoolers and school-age students in the Least Restrictive Environment to meet each student’s individual needs. The District special education program is operated consistent with federal and state laws and regulations. These laws and regulations require the District to locate, assess and identify all students within the District from 3 years of age through 8th grade who may have disabilities and then provide appropriate placements and/or related services to those who are eligible for special education. Special education is provided to students based upon the individual needs of the student and the recommendations of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. The IEP team develops an IEP, a legal document that describes the services that the Moreland School District will provide for each student who is eligible for special education.

Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is a group of parents and educators interested in helping children who have special educational needs.  Our CAC represents eleven school districts in Santa Clara County.  We meet several times during each school year to work with school district staff and administration to promote our children's needs and educate parents in our districts.   These meetings are open to the public; everyone is welcome to attend. Joining the CAC gives you an opportunity to have your opinions heard and make a difference in the way special education is conducted in our area.  Please join us!

For more  information about the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education, and meeting times and locations, please visit the Special Education Local Planning Agency (SELPA) III website at https://www.sccoe.org/selpa/selpa3-cac/Pages/default.aspx.
