Focusing on after-school care, Moreland implemented Engagement for All. The vision addressed various developmental and social needs of students focusing on homework assistance, a balance between structured activities and play, increased enrichment, and positive discipline through targeted professional development. The results transformed after-school care into an exemplary, enriching program.

the Moreland school district has been described as the best kept secret in the Silicon Valley was steady to increasing test scores burritts Traverse caring School climates and what size focusing on 21st century skills Morlan was excited to rejuvenate the after school extended day program New Orleans extended day was started in 2005 as an after school program student throughout the years the program has always included homework support indoor games and outdoor free play about 2 years ago we decided that we needed a plan to increase enrollment and the quality of the program and we knew we could do this by increasing student engagement and indoor and outdoor activities as well as develop a program that would ultimately meet the so gold and developmental needs of the students after their school day  three staff training and professional development opportunities the results were incredible  has a school board member extended day parent in this District it's been really evidence that the extended day site supervisors really love being around the children and having the opportunity to be that extension in their day Comey learned about the professional development that would take the program to the next level and then actually see the immediate benefits to the students they hit a cold one news strong professional development focuses first on outdoor engagement where staff members were taught how to create and run outdoor games that were competitive without excluding students or how many the second was on Endor engagement that focus on positive discipline and new team building skills walking into an extended day program now and seeing the difference in the staff members as well as the students has been around one of the things that I really about the indoor and outdoor engagement with the kids is that they have really come out of their shell I like seeing the kids trying new things I also like seeing the kids encourage one another when we're playing together as a group and stuff but most of all it says children what kind of on the outside that are now feeling comfortable joining in on all these different activities cuz everyone is doing it so I'm feeling that there's a stronger sense Community within the children  they really gets the kids the ability to gain the confidence to be able to place Carson to work as part of a team and tour collaborate and listen as part of their family nudist teachers that are part of their everyday in fact so much though that my son when you put together his birthday invite lift every year to make sure that his Andrews name is on it a number of years ago a student started with us and there's a kindergartner and named Aiden man has Down syndrome names start with us who is not very verbal who still working on clearing his talking to parents over a year and a nail always said that a lot of the the benefits that he received from coming to A play with just the social skills that he learned because when he was with us but he was in the group with every other student that we have and when during the school day he's in a special day class so he is just with six other special needs students but with us he's mainstream right in with the with the rest of the group so he's doing the same art projects he's playing the same outdoor games he's doing homework is there a minute I'm listening to the same stories and and doing all of the same activities and I think that that you know who really benefited from from that
