Welcome to Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is a bridge between preschool and Kindergarten designed to give our youngest learners a strong foundation for their future academic journey. In the Moreland School District, TK offers an optional, no-cost opportunity for students to build essential skills through hands-on, interactive learning in a supportive environment.
Enrollment
- Children who turn four years old on or before September 1 are eligible to enroll in TK.
- TK programs are available at all Moreland elementary and TK-8 school sites.

Our Program Philosophy
Our TK classrooms blend social and emotional experiences with academic exploration. We focus on the whole child by:
- Balancing Development: Merging pre-literacy and pre-math skills with vital self-regulation and social skills.
- Engaging Curriculum: Utilizing age-appropriate, hands-on activities that encourage physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
- Building Community: Creating a safe, welcoming space where students develop a sense of belonging and a love for learning.
- Alignment: Our program is guided by the California Preschool Learning Foundations to ensure a seamless transition into the K-12 system.
