A Note from Superintendent Codd: Updated Guidance from the California Department of Public Health

Dear Moreland Families,

I wanted to update you on the most recent guidance from the California Department of Public Health. Please note the following:

  • Students that test positive for COVID-19 must isolate at home for five days from the onset of symptoms or when the positive test was collected.

  • Students may return to school beginning on Day 6 of isolation if they feel well, have improving symptoms, and have been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.

  • Students should continue to wear a mask for a total of 10 days after testing positive for COVID-19. However, after ending isolation (no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and symptoms are improving), confirmed cases may remove their mask sooner than Day 10 with two sequential negative tests at least one day apart. If antigen test results are positive, the person may still be infectious, and should continue wearing a mask and wait at least one day before taking another test.

  • We will no longer require test results to return to school after day 5 of isolation; however, testing will be encouraged.

The Moreland SD’s CDPH Guidance Update and the Moreland SD’s COVID-19 General Notification Letter provide additional information regarding the management of COVID-19 in our Moreland Schools. We thank you for your continued support in helping to ensure a safe and supportive school environment for our students, families, and staff members.

Warm Regards,

Clover Codd

Superintendent

Stanford Children's Health Webinar

August 16, 2022

Moreland partnered with Stanford Children’s Health to answer questions about the status of COVID-19.  This webinar was presented by Dr. Lee Sanders, Division Chief for General Pediatrics at Stanford Children’s Health and Co-Director for the Center for Policy, Outcomes and Prevention at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Sherri Sager, Senior Vice President and Chief Government Relations Officer at Stanford Children’s Health, and Superintendent Dr. Clover Codd.

We are so grateful to have this partnership with these incredible healthcare professionals and community partners. Over the past two years, they have been with us, educating our community through webinars, providing free Covid-19 testing to our families and students through their Teen Van, as well as access to free vaccination clinics for our students and community multiple times since the pandemic began.

You can view the recorded webinar here.
