Payne Hosts Part of STEAM Symposium for Santa Clara County Teachers & Administrators

Payne Elementary School hosted a portion of the Santa Clara County Office of Education STEAM Symposium last Friday, April 21, 2017. As part of a multi-day event highlighting best practices, partnerships, and networks supporting imagination, innovation, and integration across the County, Payne was a featured stop for teachers and administrators wanting to learn more about how to create a successful STEAM program on a budget.

MMS Orchestra & Band Receive Superior Ratings at Music Festival

From Music in Moreland Announcement: Before Spring Break, our Moreland Middle School Symphonic Orchestra and Symphonic Band participated in the CMEA Band and Orchestra Festival. Both ensembles earned unanimous SUPERIOR ratings from all four judges
(3 performance judges and 1 sight reading judge.)

Moreland Middle School Students Place at County Optimist Speech Contest

Two Moreland Middle School students placed first and second place in the Santa Clara County Optimist Oratorical Contest. As the only two middle school students competing against all high school students, 8th graders Ishaan Iyer (1st place) and Rujula Rao (2nd place) qualified for the state finals on Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Sacramento.

Latimer Chef Wins Future Chef Regional Competition

Third Grade Latimer Student, Caden Arlington Thompson, local district winner of Sodexo's Future Chefs Competition, has been recognized as a regional winner and advanced to the Semi-Final portion of the competition.

Eleven Moreland Students Advance to MathCon 2017

Students from Country Lane, Payne, Easterbrook Discovery and Moreland Middle Schools were chosen out of almost 50,000 applicants from across the country to participate in MathCON; a prestigious academic competition.

7 Moreland Teams Advance to State STEAM Competition

Of the 53 teams that competed in the Regional Tournament at Andrew Hill High School on March 4, 7 Moreland teams representing Country Lane, Latimer, Payne and MMS placed high enough to earn a spot in the state competition.

Anderson & Baker Install Buddy Bench on Playgrounds

Moreland School District announced the installation of Buddy Benches at Anderson & Baker Elementary Schools. The Buddy Bench is a bench designed to “eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground.” (
