Moreland Adopts New Platform for Parent Communication

June 18, 2018, San Jose, CA:  The Moreland School District announced that they are streamlining their parent communication and student information system to create a more user-friendly experience for families and staff members. The Aeries Parent/Student Portal will now be the "one-stop shop" for online registration, middle school grades/assignments, and communication for students, parents, teachers, schools and the District.

Parents and guardians will immediately see the benefit of this integration through online “first-day packets.”  “The thick stack of paperwork that would be sent home with each student on the first day of school will now be completed online before school even starts,” said Dr. Mary Kay Going, Superintendent. “This will not only help families with multiple children in the District, but will help our staff to maintain current, accurate emergency information.”

Aeries Communication will allow parents and guardians to customize their notification preferences, so families can decide the most preferred way for the school and district to communicate with them: emails, phone calls, and/or text messaging.  In addition to a variety of easy-to-use communication tools, parents/guardians can create and receive message which will be translated into their preferred language.

Middle School grades/assignments will switch from School Loop to Aeries Gradebook, allowing teachers, students, and parent/guardians to communicate easier and more effectively about assignments and/or grades.  With a user-friendly app for smartphones, parents will now be able to review their student’s progress, missing assignments, and attendance right from their phone.

The Moreland School District plans to open the online “first-day packet” to returning Moreland families on August 1, 2018.  The system will automatically send out an email to parent/guardian contacts for each returning student notifying them that an account has been created for them.  Additional details, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and tutorials will be available on school and the District websites at this time, as well.

The Moreland School District encourages families to confirm that the District has the correct email address on record.  If a parent/guardian’s email has changed, or families do not normally receive email communication from their school, please contact the school office before June 29, 2018 or after August 6, 2018 to update contact information.
