Baker Students Recipients of NFL Play 60 Initiative

September 26, 2017, San Jose, CA:  The Moreland School District announced that Baker 4th and 5th graders were recipients of the National Football League’s (NFL) 49ers Play 60 Initiative, a national youth health and fitness campaign focused on increasing the wellness of young students by encouraging them to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.

Fourth grade teacher, Angela Amico, applied for the traveling program to partner with Baker Elementary School.  With a focus on team building, health and fitness, Baker students participated in throwing, catching, and other fun football drills that had the students cheering with excitement and walking away with a NFL Play 60 t-shirt.

The Moreland School District continues to increase its awareness of student wellness through such programs as the updated District-wide Wellness Policy and the support of Moreland Education Foundation’s (MEF) Sports In Moreland (SiM) branch.  As part of the Strategic Plan goal to “Raise Level of Success for All Students While Addressing Learning Gaps,” Moreland integrates physical education as one part of providing a well-rounded learning environment.
