Anderson Volunteer Honored with Silicon Valley Award

Herminia Linares, a former Anderson parent and current grandparent of a student, was honored this afternoon at the Junior League of San Jose Volunteer Recognition Luncheon in downtown Campbell. Herminia received a certificate for her work in organizing Anderson Elementary School’s tamale sales at the Moreland Education Foundation’s (MEF) annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser.

Moreland Students Win Regional STEAM Competitions

A Moreland Middle School student competed in the FIRST LEGO League Robotics tournament in November, and has since won awards at the NorCal Peninsula Championships in February and has participated in the Northern California Innovation Expo. In addition, three Moreland teams have successfully qualified to move on to the S.T.E.A.M.-based Destination Imagination state competition.

Three Country Lane students, two Payne students, two Easterbrook Discovery School (EDS) students, and five Moreland Middle School (MMS) students qualified out of almost 50,000 applicants from across the country to participate in MathCON; a prestigious national academic competition hosted by Concept Schools in Chicago.

Moreland Board Calls on Lawmakers to Fully Fund Public Education

In partnership with employees of Moreland School District, including the Certificated, Classified and Management Bargaining Units, the Moreland Board of Trustees unanimously passed a resolution at Tuesday night’s Board Meeting, January 23, 2018, calling for full and fair funding of California’s Public Schools by state lawmakers.
