Payne Elementary School unveiled a new sensory gravel space this afternoon, a joint partnership with WestGate Church’s Beautiful Day program and Payne’s Home & School Club. This sensory gravel space fosters early childhood development through the power of play by engaging students’ senses.

Easterbrook Discovery Middle School (EDMS) and its musicians have been awarded three 2020 Downbeat Awards for outstanding performance. The 2019 EDMS Jazz Band and selected musicians submitted their nominations last school year for the award selection that took place this Spring 2020.

Country Lane fifth grade student, Aadya Vadrevu’s design, was selected as the new Moreland/San Jose Public Library library card design, scheduled to be distributed to Moreland students in the fall of next school year.

A Payne 5th grade class placed 1st in a local math contest last week through Sumdog, an online adaptive learning platform that basis scores on accuracy, the number of questions answered correctly, and ranks students based on daily and weekly contests.

Eighth grade student Felipe Feldman was awarded second place for best Jazz Soloist in the junior high category for the 2019 DownBeat Student Music Awards, a national competition open to junior high, high school, university, and solo entries.

Two Easterbrook Discovery School (EDS) students have won a Santa Clara County Office of Education art contest, and the 2019 Sodexo Future Chef Regional Competition.
