Claire strives to ensure that Moreland Middle School is a community that practices inclusivity every day. As the leader of the Inclusivity Club/Human Rights Club she brings together a large gathering of diverse students to discuss issues. They address problems faced by marginalized students and explore how to provide a nurturing space for all. She is informed, passionate, and has an innate sense of justice. Her leadership brings students together to plan activities that engage other students to build a supportive and accepting community. One example of their collaborative work was the Day of Silence, designed to support the LGBTQ community and raise awareness about bullying and mental health issues. “Middle school is a crazy time for kids and this doesn’t always happen at all schools, but through Claire’s dedication, support and leadership of the Inclusivity Club the past three years, Moreland Middle School has become a school where no students or staff will feel marginalized for their differences. Claire’s actions have led to greater acceptance at school and has made it a place where students feel safer, more connected, and more accepted. Her leadership and courage are an inspiration to both her peers and to staff, and will have a positive impact on our community for years to come.” – Jackson Roue, student

Moreland is the school that is an inclusive campus but there's still a lot of room for improvement and that's what I'm trying to do is leader that's why I joined in sixth grade to try Melinda better campus and a better place for students our club is really important because we strive to teach people who might not know what the club is or might not know how serious LGBT issues are that's why I joined the club to I'm letting myself and others so we usually start filing in and then we eat lunch for maybe 10 minutes and then I'll go grab Rainbow Dash and start the conversation there is definitely an upstanding I've been friends with her for about five years now and she's always like Venom motivating and inspirational person with a school 1000 middle schoolers it's very important that we have people like Claire who reach farther than just their friend group they're pure group but reach out into the Greater Community of Moreland Middle School to help provide an inclusive environment and for all students and staff Clair has made a great impact on our students and is the ultimate positive peer and she comes ready every week to lead the group to do many great things for our campus that is personal to you I feel Claire's a positive peer influence her because she's always setting a good example and she can put aside all the she is experiencing in her life and just focus on hey this person help I'm going to go help them no matter what's going on with me and right now we're planning our Day of Silence so I usually try that put out maybe 10 or 15 minutes to start planning that I have the student that age know so clearly about empathy and making people feel okay to be themselves and to be a wonderful Ally and to befriend students who might be from marginalized groups and tell them that they're not play okay but they're amazing she's inspiring to all of us including the adults there is always a positive peer when she's talking to other people no matter if they're different Chief treats them all the same sheet makes them feel included and welcome I hope for a club is to work towards Melanie making more Linda more inclusive community but making it a community where every student feel safe coming here and movie where student gets bullied and I hope that someday we can achieve that
