Two Moreland Special Education Teachers Honored at Regional Awards Luncheon

Bill Pierce, Special Education Teacher at Easterbrook Discovery School (EDS) and Bob Burgner, Resource Specialist at Moreland Middle School (MMS) were honored at the SELPA III Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Teacher Awards Luncheon on May 25, 2017. Nominated by Director of Educational Services, Theresa Molinelli, teachers were selected based on their commitment to children with disabilities.

Moreland Middle School Student Testifies with Assemblymember Evan Low to Assembly Elections Committee

Moreland Middle School 7th grade student, Aarushi Wadhwa, testified with Assemblymember and former Campbell Mayor Evan Low in support of Assembly Constitutional Amendment 10, proposing to lower the voting age from 18 to 17 in the state of California. After her testimony this month in Sacramento, alongside another Northern California student, the Assembly Elections Committee passed Assemblymember Low’s proposal four to one.

Moreland Middle Student Wins National Music Award

Moreland Middle School 8th grade student Daiki Nakajima was selected as a 2017 DownBeat Student Music Awards (SMA) winner, a national competition open to junior high, high school, university and solo entries. Daiki has received the “Junior High School Outstanding Performance” for his Tenor Saxophone recording.

As part of a multi-day event highlighting best practices, partnerships, and networks supporting imagination, innovation, and integration across the County, Payne was a featured stop for teachers and administrators wanting to learn more about how to create a successful STEAM program on a budget.
