San Jose, April 15, 2022: Moreland School District has announced that Sharon Myers, Administrative Assistant in the Educational Services department of the Moreland School District Office, has been selected by the Santa Clara County Office of Education as the 2022 Classified Employee of the Year in the Clerical and Administrative Services category.
Sharon is one of six people in the County who are being recognized for her exemplary services. Selected from nominations within the Santa Clara County Office of Education, as well as from the County’s 32 school districts, Sharon will proceed to the state level for consideration in the Clerical and Administrative Services category.
Sharon Myers was the core of Moreland’s 2021/2022 Distance Learning program, in addition to her day-to-day duties. When students had the opportunity to return to school in person, and parents were given the choice of in-person instruction or virtual distance learning, procedures on virtual distance learning attendance, chromebook distribution, hotspot needs and distribution, scheduling, communication, and operational details needed to be made and executed. Described by her manager and colleagues as detail-oriented, magical, and psychic, Sharon took all of this on with a positive growth mindset. Both parents and students in Moreland’s virtual distance learning program called Sharon for any help or questions. A leader in her field with an unwavering commitment to her role as a support staff for all of Moreland’s educational services’ needs, Sharon stepped up and quickly became the “face” of Moreland during a time when people needed connections more than ever.
Moreland traditionally nominates its District-Wide Classified Employee of the Year as their Santa Clara County Office of Education nomination for this prestigious award. However, in the absence of a celebration for the past two years during the pandemic, several nominations were submitted this year through referrals by school sites and department supervisors for this honor.
Join us at our May 10, 2022 Board of Trustees meeting as we bring back the 2021/2022 Employee of the Year recognitions. The district-wide certificated winner will represent Moreland as a 2022 Santa Clara County Teacher of the Year nomination, and the district-wide classified winner will represent Moreland as a 2023 Classified Employee of the Year nomination.
The Santa Clara County Office of Education will recognize Sharon Myers and honorees at an upcoming virtual event in June. In addition, these County winners will compete against other counties at the statewide level. Awardees will be announced by the California Department of Education and celebrated at an event in May during Classified School Employee Week.
