Engage, Educate & Empower:
Digital Citizenship, Your Child & You

Technology and digital media are invaluable tools that enhance learning and socialization. They are also highly influential tools. Parents are looking for resources to better understand how to oversee and manage their children’s digital content, as well as ways to guide their children into making smart ethical choices while online. This session will help parents gain a better understanding of the value and potential hazards associated with digital access. We encourage parents to bring their child too, so both can understand the need for developing a positive digital presence.

Moreland Students Perform Well in
Smarter Balanced Assessment Test

Results for the new California state student assessment system (known as California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)) have been released from the California Department of Education.  These results are a first indicator of how Moreland students are doing to meet the new California standards through the Smarter Balanced Assessment Test taken in spring 2015.
Taken by students in 3rd through 8th grades, these computer-based tests measure student knowledge of California’s standards in English Language Arts and Math.  An initial look at the results show that Santa Clara County students are outperforming students in other regions of California.  Additionally, students in the Moreland School District are showing higher levels of having met or exceeded standard than those in Santa Clara County.
Individual student reports will be mailed home to families in mid-to-late September with information about the student’s overall scores. Both district and student scores throughout the state are considered a baseline, providing an opportunity to focus on the needs of students and support teachers and schools in their work.
