Hot Summer Programs Keep Kids Moving and Learning- Summer 2009Summer may be a time of long, lazy days for some, but at Moreland, summer is the best time to pump up the fun and keep kids learning! This summer, several campuses were hopping as they hosted our Extended Care programs, Summer Enrichment Programs, and Summer School classes, keeping the educational ball rolling in the Moreland School District. Moreland’s Summer School program saw more than 150 students receive the extra instruction they needed to be successful as they continue their educational journey. Thirty seven eighth graders earned the right to walk in a highly anticipated graduation ceremony after completing the Summer School Program and will go on to attend high school this fall. The Moreland Educational Foundation’s (MEF) Summer Enrichment Programs provided students with a summer full of enrichment-based learning. Students were able to work with computers, create multi-media art, learn how to bake, and participate in other interactive mediums, all while engaging their imaginations. Our lauded Extended Care programs continued throughout the summer, giving kids the opportunity to engage the world around them. Extended Care took several field trips, including a memorable one to Monterey and Dennis the Menace Park, and showed students new ways to grow and learn every day. |
